Green Smoothies

Lately I have been seeing green smoothies everywhere.  On Pinterest. On one of my favorite vegan blogs.  On my favorite daily wellness email.

So, I decided to try it for myself.  I followed Angela’s recipe of  kale, a frozen banana, and blueberries, but I used soy milk instead of almond milk and didn’t put in any protein powder.

So far so good.  Until I started blending.

Not exactly green, but let me tell you— it tasted WAY better than I thought it would. I thought it would be really bland and gritty, but it was surprisingly sweet and smooth.  It made me feel great to start the morning with so many fruits and veggies, now I just have to figure out how to make it green…


P.S.  I almost forgot the most important part— peel your bananas BEFORE you freeze them!  Otherwise you’ll end up with this mess after carving away with a paring knife (not safe, not efficient)…
